Aim and scope of the journal

The journal publishes original research papers, short communications, brief reports and reviews on advanced scientific progress in farm animal biology. »Archiv Tierzucht« includes publications in quantitative and molecular genetics, genetic diversity, animal husbandry and welfare, physiology and reproduction of livestock. The journal addresses researchers, teachers, stakeholders of academic and educational institutions as well as industrial or governmental organisations in the field of animal production.

Manuscript submission

Manuscripts in German or preferentially English language should be submitted together with a covering letter including the following statement signed by the author/s: “The author/s hereby confirms that the manuscript has not been published in whole or in part, nor is being considered for publication elsewhere.” Manuscripts not conforming to these instructions will not accept. Submit your paper per email to: archivtierzucht@fbn-dummerstorf.de in Mircosoft Word or OpenOffice.org format. Pictures can be processed if provide in a common format (TIFF prefered) with at least 300 dpi.

Reviewing process

All submitted manuscripts deemed appropriate for consideration by the editors will be peer reviewed. Those not considered appropriate will be returned to the authors immediately. Papers in a numbered series will not be reviewed unless all parts are available for reviewing at the same time. Revisions made according to the reviewers’ and editors’ remarks should be resubmitted together with a detailed list and description of changes made. We strive to process all submitted papers as fast as possible with due scientific diligence. We kindly ask you to support the process of evaluation of your submissions by recommending three potential referees with name, institution and email.

Publication

The exclusive copyrights of the manuscript pass from the author/s to the publisher with the acceptance of the manuscript by the editor – including the right to reproduce the article or any part thereof. Before the manuscripts are printed the corresponding authors get proofs for correction and confirmation. No fee is paid for publication. The corresponding author receives a PDF-file of the printed paper.

Manuscript preparation

The authors are responsible for the preparation of the paper in a form suitable for publication. Manuscript should be written in clear, concise and grammatically and linguistically correct English or German language. Full papers are limited to 15 pages in length including tables, figures, abstracts and referees, short communications are limited to 6 pages only and Brief reports are limited to 2 pages only. Author/s should consult a current issue of »Archiv Tierzucht« for style and layout and refer to the downloadable instructions for authors.
